Uragan Florence pogodio je istočnu obalu SAD-a naglim vodenim valom i jakim vjetrom iza kojega ostaje poplava i uništena imovina. Središte oluje udarilo je Wrightsville Beach u Sjevernoj Karolini, s jačinom do 150 km/h. Više od milijun ljudi dobilo je upozorenje da napusti obalu Karoline i Virginije, a više od 12.000 ljudi hitno je potražilo skloništa. Veliki broj ljudi trenutno čeka pomoć i u New Bernu.
Guverner Sjeverne Karoline uputio je poruku da će ovaj uragan biti test izdržljivosti, timskog rada, zdravog razuma i strpljenja. Ovo je tek početak lošeg vremena koje će se nastaviti i do dvadeset dana.
