U nedjelju se održala dodjela 93. Oscara, najpresnižnija nagrada u svijetu filma. Iako je sve bilo spremno da titulu najboljeg glumca posthumno dobije Chadwick Boseman za ulogu u „Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom“, nagrada je pripala Anthonyju Hopkinsu za nastup u filmu „The Father“. Iako Hopkins nije bio na dodjeli, postao je najstariji dobitnik u kategoriji najboljeg glumca.
Film „Nomadland“ dobio je titulu najboljeg filma, a redateljica filma Chloe Zhao dobila je titulu najbolje redateljice i druga žena u povijesti kojoj je to pošlo za rukom. Francis McDormand proglašena je najboljom glumicom što je njezina treća pobjeda u ovoj kategoriji.
U kategoriji sporednih uloga, najboljom sporednom glumicom proglašena je Yuh-Jung Youn za ulogu u filmu „Minari“, a time je postala prva žena iz Koreje koja je ovjenčana Oscarom.
